Notice of removal of Quarantine

Effective September 17, 2003, the Quarantine in Southern California for Exotic Newcastle Disease has been lifted and we are now able to transport birds to and from this area.

Notice of Health Regulation Changes

Due to new USDA regulations, Pro Pet Transports will now require that all animals, with the exception of rodents and reptiles, now have an official, multi-copy, state issued certificate for interstate travel. These certificates must be acquired from a licensed veterinarian no more than 10 days prior to the scheduled transport date. We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Health Certificates Explained
While nearly all animals transported with our company are required to have a health certificate, you should understand the following:

A health certificate only states that an animal is free from infectious diseases and current on all vaccinations. It does not indicate that the animal itself is in good health. If you are purchasing an animal from someone that you do not know personally, we strongly recommend that you request proof of a clear physical examination from a qualified veterinarian. This additional measure will insure that you are buying a healthy animal and avoid any difficulties that might arise during or after delivery.

General: Please have your bird ready for transport.

*Please Note* We are not equipped to carry extras, such as cages, extra paperwork, unnecessary medicines or any other items, for your bird(s). Please make other arrangements to have any items that are not needed for the transport shipped to your bird's destination. Our attendants are instructed to refuse any items that are not necessary for the transport.

It is highly recommended that alternate arrangements be in place in case the person responsible for sending or receiving the animal is unable to do so. Notify Pro-Pet-Transports as soon as you know of a change of plans. Our cancellation policy can be viewed on our Schedules page.

Carriers: If you have no cage/carrier suitable for transport, please contact us regarding options we can provide. By law the bird must have a perch appropriate for the birds size.

Documents: Please have the signed emergency care authorization form ready and available to travel with your pet. If medication is required, please notify our drivers/attendants.

Food: Please have food and water inside the cage. Place your bird's feed for the journey in a zip lock bag that is not attached to the cage. We provide bottled drinking water at no additional cost to you.

Special Needs: PPT understands that it is important to keep birds out of drafts. We use large transport vehicles that allow plenty of elbow room and proper ventilation. We are careful not to overbook, allowing our attendants adequate access to the carriers during transport. All of our vehicles are equipped with refrigeration for any special needs. Each vehicle has two or three driver/attendants on board at all times allowing an attendant to interact with the animals while another is driving.
