ROAD TRIP!

...Traveling with dogs presents unavoidable challenges -...Security hassles have made flying even more stressful for dogs; it's a prospect that's not a wise option.

ROAD RULES

• Plan ahead. Take advantage of the dozens of books and Web sites devoted to dog travel. Some of the top sites are: www.dogfriendly.com ...
  
• Visit your veterinarian. Tell your veterinarian how your pet will be traveling...Get written proof of your vaccinations...
  
• Update ID tags. List multiple phone numbers - including a close relative - so it will be easier to find you on the road.
  
• If you must fly...take copies of health certificates. If you want to fly and don't want to put your dog in an airplane's cargo area, consider Professional Pet Transports... which offers nationwide door-to-door service in large, air-conditioned and heated transport vehicles (carrier rental available for all sizes).
